The Ant and the Dove 🐜🕊️

*Reading: 3 minutes

It was very hot in the forest. The sun was shining so brightly that even the leaves on the trees seemed to sigh. In the middle of that hot day, a small ant was walking along the ground, desperately searching for water. She was very thirsty and knew that there was a stream nearby where she could drink.

When she reached the edge of the stream, she saw the fresh, crystal-clear water rushing quickly between the rocks. The ant was so happy that she got too close to the bank. Without realizing it, she lost her balance and fell into the water. Splash! Her tiny legs tried to swim, but the current was too strong. It pushed her from side to side, not letting her escape.

“Help! Please, someone help me!” cried the ant with all her might, though her little voice could barely be heard over the sound of the rushing water.

Meanwhile, on a nearby branch, a dove was watching what was happening. She had been resting peacefully when she noticed the little ant struggling against the current. The dove didn’t hesitate for a second. She knew she had to act quickly.

With her strong and skillful beak, the dove broke off a small twig from the tree where she was perched. Carefully, she let it drop right next to the struggling ant.

“Hold on to this!” said the dove in a soft but firm voice.

The ant, who was already tired and scared, managed to grab onto the twig with all her strength. The dove flew down, grabbed the twig with her claws, and lifted it into the air with the ant still clinging to it. Gently, she placed the ant on the riverbank, where it could rest and catch its breath.

“Thank you… thank you,” said the ant, still trembling with fear and exhaustion. “Without you, I would have drowned.”

The dove smiled sweetly and replied:

“You’re welcome. Everyone needs help sometimes. I’m glad I was here to save you.”

The ant looked at the dove with admiration. She would never forget the kindness of her new friend. After drying off in the sun and regaining her energy, she promised that someday she would return the favor.

Days later, while the ant was walking through the forest collecting crumbs of food, she heard a cry from above. She looked up at the sky and saw something surprising—it was the same dove that had saved her!

The dove was trapped in a net that hunters had set up between the trees. She flapped her wings with all her might, but she couldn’t break free.

“Help! I need help!” cried the dove, frightened.

The ant didn’t think twice. She ran to the net and began biting the threads with her tiny jaws. It was hard work because the threads were thick and tough, but the ant didn’t give up. She nibbled and pulled with all her strength until, little by little, the net began to break.

Finally, after much effort, the dove was free. She shook her wings and looked at the ant with gratitude.

“Thank you, little friend! I don’t know what I would have done without your help.”

The ant smiled proudly.

“You saved me before, and now I’ve saved you. That’s how friendship works, right?”

The dove nodded, moved, and said:

“Yes, that’s how it is. We are different, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is helping each other when we need it most.”

From that day on, the ant and the dove became great friends. Whenever they could, they visited each other in the forest. The ant told stories of her adventures on the ground, and the dove shared everything she saw from the sky.

They learned that, although they were very different, together they made a perfect team. And they never forgot that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
