Once upon a time, there was a girl named Catalina who lived in a small village surrounded by mountains. Catalina was very curious and loved to look at the sky, especially at night, when the stars shone like diamonds and the moon seemed to smile down at her from above. Catalina loved the moon so much that she always talked to it before going to sleep.
“Hello, little moon,” she would say as she peeked out of her window. “How are you today?”
Although she never heard a reply, Catalina felt that the moon watched over her affectionately, illuminating her room with its silvery light.
One night, something magical happened. As Catalina gazed up at the sky, she saw the moon softly blinking, as if trying to get her attention. Then, a soft and sweet voice echoed in her ear.
“Hello, Catalina,” said the moon. “I’ve been listening to you every night. You always tell me such lovely things.”
Catalina opened her eyes wide in surprise. The moon could talk! Without hesitating for a second, she excitedly replied:
“Little moon! It’s you! I thought you’d never answer me.”
The moon laughed gently, its laughter sounding like crystal bells.
“Of course I answer you, Catalina. You just needed to pay closer attention. I really enjoy when you tell me about your days and your dreams. You’re very special to me.”
From that night on, Catalina and the moon became great friends. Every night, right after dinner, Catalina would run to her window to talk to her new friend. She told her everything: how school had gone, what she had learned that day, and the games she had shared with her friends.
The moon also shared her stories. She spoke of the places she saw from the sky: rivers that shimmered like silver, forests full of dancing shadows, and cities where the lights never went out. Catalina listened, fascinated, imagining each place as if she were there.
One day, Catalina was sad because her friends couldn’t play with her. They had gone on trips with their families, and she felt lonely.
“Don’t worry, Catalina,” said the moon that night. “I’m here with you. And I have an idea to cheer you up. Would you like to learn some secrets of the sky?”
Catalina nodded excitedly. The moon began to shine brighter, and suddenly, a ray of silvery light descended into Catalina’s garden. It was a glowing path that looked like it was made of stars.
“Follow me,” invited the moon.
With her heart racing, Catalina went out into the garden and stepped onto the glowing path. In an instant, she felt herself gently floating up toward the sky. When she opened her eyes, she was floating next to the moon, surrounded by stars that twinkled like fireflies.
“Welcome to my world,” said the moon with a smile.
Together they explored the night sky. The stars came close to greet them, and some even told ancient stories about how they had witnessed great events on Earth. A very bright star showed Catalina how it guided lost sailors at sea, and another taught her how it helped children find their way home when they stayed up late.
“It’s incredible,” said Catalina, amazed. “I never thought the sky could be so magical.”
The moon smiled.
“The sky is a special place, but what truly makes it magical is sharing it with someone special like you.”
After that adventure, Catalina no longer felt alone. She knew that even though her friends were far away, she would always have the moon to keep her company. Moreover, she learned that she could see the world differently, finding magic in the simplest places.
Over time, Catalina began sharing her adventures with her friends when they returned. She told them about the secrets of the sky and how the moon had taken her to meet the stars. Her friends listened attentively, and soon everyone began looking at the sky with new eyes.
Every night, when Catalina said goodbye to the moon, it reminded her of something important:
“Remember, Catalina, friendship doesn’t need to be close to be real. I’ll always be here, lighting up your nights and watching over your dreams.”
And so, Catalina and the moon continued to be the best of friends. Together, they discovered that true magic lies in believing, dreaming, and sharing what makes us special with others.
Since then, whenever anyone in the village looked up at the sky, they swore they could see a little girl smiling next to the moon, reminding them that friendship can be found in the most unexpected places.
End. 🌕
