In the night sky, where stars sparkled like tiny jewels, there lived a little star named Juanita. Though she had a special glow, Juanita didn’t want to shine. She always hid behind the clouds and trembled whenever someone looked at her.
“Why don’t you shine like the others?” her friend the Sun asked one day as he passed through the sky on his long journey.
“Because I’m too small,” Juanita replied sadly. “My light doesn’t matter. There are so many bigger and brighter stars than me.”
The Sun smiled and said:
“Every light is important, no matter its size. But if you don’t believe me, maybe your friends can help you see it.”
That night, the planets and comets that lived nearby decided to talk to Juanita. First, Mars, who was reddish and brave, approached her.
“Juanita, your light may seem small, but for someone lost in the darkness, even the faintest light can be a beacon of hope,” Mars said kindly.
Then came Jupiter, the largest planet.
“Yes, Juanita, we all have something special. Your light is unique, and no one else in the universe can shine like you.”
A comet passing by quickly left a silvery trail while shouting:
“Cheer up, Juanita! The world needs all the lights it can get. Even the small ones!”
Though Juanita wanted to believe them, she still felt unsure. How could someone so small make a difference?
One night, while Juanita watched from her hiding place among the clouds, she heard a noise coming from Earth below. It was a ship lost in the middle of the dark sea. The sailors were looking up at the sky, searching for something to guide them home.
“If only there were a star to show us the way…” one of them said with a worried voice.
Juanita’s friends in the sky looked at her affectionately.
“Juanita, this is your chance,” whispered Venus, who always shone at dusk. “You can be that light.”
With her heart pounding, Juanita decided to give it a try. At first, she let out just a tiny, shy sparkle, barely enough to peek out from behind the clouds. But soon, when she saw how the sailors raised their hands in excitement, she began to shine brighter.
“Look!” one of the sailors shouted. “It’s a star! It’s guiding us home.”
Juanita felt immense joy. Her light, though small, was helping someone. And the more she shone, the prouder she felt. Soon, her glow lit up the entire night sky.
From then on, Juanita never hid again. She learned that no matter how small or big your light is, what matters is sharing it with the world. Sailors began telling stories about the little star who always appeared when they needed her most, and Juanita became a hero to everyone on Earth and in the sky.
Her friends were happy too. Every night, the planets and comets reminded her how much things had changed because of her courage.
“See, Juanita, we told you you were special,” Mars said with a smile.
And so, Juanita kept shining, proud of her light and ready to guide anyone who felt lost in the darkness. Because now she knew that even the smallest star can do great things.
End. ⭐
