Los Lapices de Colores

The Colored Pencils ✏️

*Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a joyful pencil case, there lived a group of colored pencils. Each one had its own personality and favorite color: Red was brave and always wanted to draw hearts, Blue loved painting rivers and skies, Green adored trees and leaves, and Yellow couldn’t stop drawing bright suns. Together, they made an incredible team and accompanied their owner, Ema, everywhere, especially to school.

Every day, the pencils lived exciting adventures on the blank sheets of paper that Ema gave them to draw on. Sometimes they created magical forests, other times they built enormous castles or invented strange animals. But there was one thing they all feared: the eraser!

The eraser lived in the same pencil case, but it was very different from them. It was big, white, and seemed to have mysterious powers. The pencils had heard terrible stories about how the eraser could make their marks disappear with just a touch.

“What if one day it erases us completely?” asked Yellow, trembling as he drew a sun.
“They say nothing remains after it passes,” replied Blue, nervously glancing toward where the eraser lay.

Green tried to calm them down:
“I don’t think it’s so bad. Maybe it just wants to help.”

But no one believed him. They decided to stay as far away from the eraser as possible and avoid any contact with it.

One day, Ema brought her pencils to a special task at school: they had to draw a treasure map! Everyone was thrilled. Red drew a big X to mark the treasure spot, Blue traced a river around it, Green added palm trees and mountains, and Yellow brightened the scene with a shining sun above the map. It was their masterpiece.

But then something unexpected happened. Ema looked at the map and frowned. There was a mistake: Blue’s river crossed over Green’s mountains, which didn’t make sense. Without thinking twice, Ema picked up the eraser.

The pencils watched in horror as the eraser approached the map. Blue shouted:
“No, please, don’t erase me!”

But the eraser was already at work. With smooth movements, it erased part of the river that Blue had drawn. The pencils closed their eyes, bracing for the worst. When they opened them, they saw something surprising: the map now looked perfect. The river flowed naturally, and everything made more sense.

Blue blinked, confused:
“Why didn’t you erase me completely?”

The eraser smiled (or at least that’s what the pencils imagined) and replied:
“My job isn’t to erase forever; it’s to fix mistakes so you can improve. I’m not your enemy; I’m your friend.”

The pencils fell silent for a moment. Then, Red timidly asked:
“So… you don’t want to hurt us?”

“Of course not,” said the eraser. “I just want to help you create even more beautiful things. We all make mistakes, even Ema, and I’m here so you can try again.”

The pencils looked at each other and smiled. From that day on, they stopped being afraid of the eraser. They realized that making mistakes wasn’t bad because they could always correct them and do better next time.

Together, the pencils and the eraser became an inseparable team. They created maps, drawings, and amazing projects, learning that working together made everything more fun and beautiful.

And so, inside the pencil case, there were no more fears or misunderstandings—just laughter, creativity, and countless adventures on every blank sheet of paper.
