In a small village surrounded by green mountains and wildflowers, there lived a swallow named Anita. She was small but very brave, and every year, when winter arrived, she flew with her family to warm lands to escape the cold. However, this year, something unexpected happened.
One sunny morning, as the swallows flew together in formation over rivers and forests, a strong gust of wind separated Anita from the rest. When she tried to catch up with them, she could no longer see them. She was alone in the blue sky, surrounded only by clouds and a sea of unfamiliar hills.
At first, Anita felt afraid.
“What am I going to do now?” she asked softly. But then she remembered what her mother always told her: “If you get lost, keep flying toward the sun and trust your heart.” So she took a deep breath and began looking for clues that might lead her back to her family.
As she flew, Anita saw a lake that shone like a mirror. She decided to rest for a moment and drink some water. There, she met a duck named Paco, who was happily swimming among the lilies.
“Hello, little swallow,” said Paco. “Why are you so far from home?”
Anita explained that she had gotten lost during the flight with her family. Paco smiled and said:
“Don’t worry. I know where the swallows pass every year. If you want, I can help you find your way.”
Paco taught her to follow the river because, according to him, it always led to the same place where the swallows usually stopped to rest. Anita thanked him and continued her journey, this time following the course of the water.
After a few hours of flying, Anita arrived at a large field full of yellow flowers. There, she met a busy bee named Belinda, who was hard at work collecting pollen.
“Hello!” greeted Anita. “Have you seen any other swallows pass by here?”
Belinda paused her work for a moment and replied:
“Yes, I saw a group of swallows yesterday. They were heading toward those tall trees near the hill. Maybe they’re still there.”
Encouraged by the news, Anita flew toward the trees Belinda had pointed out. When she arrived, she didn’t find anyone, but she did see a wise owl perched on a branch. The owl had big round eyes and seemed to know all the secrets of the forest.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Owl,” Anita said timidly. “I’ve gotten separated from my family. Could you help me find them?”
The owl slowly nodded and responded:
“The swallows you’re looking for left early this morning for the Valley of Flowers. It’s a place full of colors and sweet scents. If you fly east, you’re sure to catch up with them.”
Grateful, Anita followed the owl’s directions. She flew over meadows and hills until she finally reached the Valley of Flowers. From afar, she saw a group of swallows flying in circles. It was them! Her heart leapt with joy. She quickly descended and called out:
“I’m here! I’m back!”
Her friends and family rushed over, excited. Everyone cheered when Anita told them about her adventures—how she had met Paco the duck, Belinda the bee, and the wise owl.
“You were so brave!” they all said proudly.
From then on, Anita learned that even though we sometimes get lost, we can always find our way if we are brave and ask for help when we need it. And so, alongside her family, she continued her journey toward spring, ready to enjoy new sunny days.
End. 🐦
