El Bosque sin Colores

The Colorless Forest 🌲

*Reading Time: 3 minutes

A long time ago, in a forgotten corner of the world, there was a very strange forest. Everything there was gray: the trees, the flowers, the ground, and even the sky. The animals lived peacefully, but sometimes they felt that something was missing. They didn’t know exactly what, but the forest seemed sad and dull.

In that place lived Benito, a small bird with pale gray feathers, just like everything else. Although he had no colors, Benito was special because he always sang. His song was sweet and cheerful, as if he wanted to fill the forest with something that no one could see yet. Sometimes, while singing, he dreamed of a forest full of bright colors, where the leaves would be green, the flowers red and yellow, and the sky blue. But when he opened his eyes, everything was still gray.

One day, while exploring a part of the forest he had never visited before, Benito found a small withered flower next to a stream. The flower looked so sad that he decided to sing to cheer it up. He started with a soft melody and then added higher, brighter notes. To his surprise, as he sang, the flower began to change. First, a faint pink tone appeared on its petals, then a bright yellow, and finally a beautiful deep red.

“Wow!” exclaimed Benito, hopping excitedly. “My song can paint!”

But when he returned to the clearing where the other animals lived and told them what he had discovered, many laughed.

“Sing to paint?” said a squirrel, flicking its tail. “That’s impossible. Our forest has always been gray, and it will stay that way.”

“Besides, why would we even want colors?” asked a fox, yawning. “We’re fine as we are.”

Benito wasn’t discouraged. He knew what he had seen and wanted to try again. So, that same afternoon, he flew toward a group of gray bushes near the lake and began to sing. At first, the animals passing by looked at him curiously, but soon they noticed something amazing: the bushes started to shine with green and golden tones. The leaves came to life, and some even had silvery sparkles under the light.

“It’s true!” shouted a rabbit, hopping with joy. “This is incredible!”

Soon, all the animals in the forest gathered around Benito, amazed. They wanted him to paint more things, so they guided the little bird to the grayest parts of the forest. Benito sang with all his might, and little by little, the forest began to transform. The flowers filled with vibrant colors, the trees showed green and golden leaves, and even the water in the lake reflected blue and silvery tones.

However, there was a problem: Benito couldn’t do it all by himself. His voice was powerful, but he also got tired quickly. So, the animals decided to help him. The squirrel climbed the trees to point out the grayest branches, the fox used its sharp sense of smell to find hidden flowers in the undergrowth, and the rabbit carried messages between everyone to organize where they should go.

Together, they formed an incredible team. Each animal discovered they could contribute something special. Even those who had once doubted Benito now understood that everyone was important to make the forest more beautiful.

One night, when almost the entire forest was full of colors, Benito had an idea. He sang in front of the sky, and this time, his notes floated upward, lighting up the clouds with pink and orange hues. It was as if sunset had arrived early, but much brighter. The animals clapped with excitement, and from then on, every night the sky was painted with new colors thanks to Benito’s song.

Over time, the forest stopped being a sad and gray place. It became a home full of life, laughter, and joy. The animals learned that no matter how small or different someone may be, everyone can do something special to improve their surroundings. And although Benito was the one painting with his song, he knew he wouldn’t have achieved so much without the help of his friends.

From then on, every morning, when the sun began to peek over the horizon, the animals gathered to listen to Benito sing. Together they celebrated how the forest had changed thanks to the magic of teamwork and believing in dreams. Because, though it had once been a place without color, it was now the most beautiful forest in the world, full of life and happy hearts.

And so, Benito and his friends always lived surrounded by colors, remembering that true beauty lies in sharing and creating together.
