In a small village, there lived a boy named Nico. He was a curious child who always gazed at the sky at night. But lately, something strange had been happening: the moon didn’t come out. The nights were very dark, and everyone in the village felt sad because they couldn’t see its bright light.
The moon, whose name was Noa, was very lazy and no longer wanted to come out from her hiding place behind the clouds. She stayed asleep, thinking, “Why should I shine if no one is looking at me?” So every night, while the world waited for her light, Noa remained hidden, wrapped in long, silent dreams.
Nico decided to do something. He knew that without the moon’s light, the nights were too dark to play, walk, or even dream properly. So he took his flashlight, put on his warmest jacket, and began climbing the tallest mountain in the village. He wanted to find Noa and discover why she didn’t want to shine.
The journey wasn’t easy. There were slippery stones, cold winds, and branches that creaked as if they were talking on their own. But Nico didn’t give up. With each step he took, his flashlight illuminated the path and also his desire to help.
When he reached the top of the mountain, he saw something surprising: there was Noa, the moon, hiding behind a large gray cloud. She looked small and sad, as if she were made of wet cotton. Nico raised his flashlight and turned it on, pointing it toward the sky.
“Hello, Noa!” Nico shouted with a clear and kind voice. “Why don’t you shine? We all need you.”
Noa blinked slowly and replied in a soft little voice:
“It’s just… no one looks at me anymore. People are busy with other things, and I feel like my light doesn’t matter.”
Nico thought for a moment. Then he smiled and said:
“Of course you matter! Your light guides ships at sea, helps children read their storybooks before bed, and makes parties in the village more magical. Without you, everything would be very dark.”
Noa looked at him with her round, shiny eyes, but she still seemed unsure.
“Do you really believe that?” she asked.
“Of course!” Nico replied. “Look, I came all the way here just to find you. That shows how much we need you. Besides, when you shine, everything looks more beautiful. Even the stars are happier being with you.”
Noa felt better hearing that. But she still had one doubt.
“And what if I feel lonely again?”
Nico smiled and pointed to his flashlight.
“If you ever feel that way, I’ll come back to find you. And you can also look down at the village. There’s always someone watching you, even if you don’t notice. You give us hope and joy, Noa. You’re very special.”
With those words, Noa began to shine little by little. At first, it was a shy flicker, like a lost firefly. Then, her light grew brighter and brighter until the entire mountain and village were filled with her silvery glow.
“You did it!” Nico shouted, excited. “You’re shining brighter than ever!”
From that day on, Noa decided never to hide again. Every night she came out to light up the sky, proud of her glow. And when there were celebrations in the village, she shone stronger than ever, as if dancing among the stars.
Nico returned to the village as a hero. Everyone celebrated his bravery, and from then on, whenever they looked at the night sky, they remembered how important the moon was.
That’s how Noa and Nico became friends forever. Though she was in the sky and he was on Earth, they knew they would always be connected by the light of the moon and their desire to make others happy.
And that’s how little Nico taught the moon that even though we sometimes feel unimportant, there’s always someone who needs our light to guide their way.
End. 🌕
