In a forest full of tall trees, colorful flowers, and a river that sang as it flowed, many happy animals lived. Each season of the year brought something special, but when summer arrived, everyone knew it was time to prepare to make the most of the long, sunny days. This year, however, they decided to do something different: they would organize a big party to celebrate “Daylight Saving Time!”
It all started one morning when the wise owl, who always stayed awake during the day in the summer (because he didn’t want to miss anything), gathered the animals in the clearing of the forest.
“Friends,” said the owl in his calm voice, “summer is here, and the days will be longer. It’s time to prepare to make the most of every ray of sunshine. How about we have a big party at sunset to celebrate?”
Everyone clapped excitedly. But before the party, there was a lot of work to be done.
The bouncy squirrel was the first to volunteer.
“I’ll gather the sweetest berries for the feast!” she said, quickly climbing the trees to fill her basket with juicy red fruits.
The beaver, who loved building things, decided to create a dance floor by the river. With his strong teeth and nimble paws, he cut logs and arranged them into a perfect circle. Then he decorated everything with flowers he found near the water.
“This will be the best dance floor in the forest!” he proudly announced.
The fireflies also wanted to help.
“We’ll light up the party when the sun sets,” they said as they practiced their synchronized blinking.
The rabbit, who was very fast, took charge of delivering invitations throughout the forest. He hopped from burrow to burrow, letting everyone know:
“Don’t forget to come to the Daylight Saving Time party! Bring good energy and a desire to have fun.”
Meanwhile, the birds gathered to rehearse songs. They sang cheerful melodies that made the tree leaves dance.
“Our music will make everyone want to move their feet,” chirped the goldfinch, leader of the choir.
When the big day arrived, everyone was ready. The squirrels had placed piles of berries on tables made of flat stones, the beaver had finished polishing the dance floor, and the fireflies waited hidden among the bushes to surprise everyone at dusk.
At sunset, the animals began to arrive. There were deer, foxes, raccoons, and even some snails who moved slowly but enthusiastically. The owl welcomed them from a high branch:
“Welcome to the celebration of Daylight Saving Time! Enjoy the sun, the food, and the music.”
The party began with laughter and games. The little rabbits raced around the clearing, while the bears played tossing pinecones into the river. When it grew dark, the fireflies emerged, glowing like twinkling stars and lighting up the entire scene.
The birds sang their best songs, and soon everyone was dancing on the dance floor the beaver had built. Even the slow snail tried to keep up with the rhythm, though he only managed to spin in circles.
As the night went on, the owl raised a claw to ask for silence.
“I want to thank everyone for working together to make this day unforgettable. This is what summer should be like: full of light, fun, and friends.”
Everyone applauded and cheered. Afterward, they sat in a circle eating berries under the starry sky.
From then on, every time summer arrived, the animals of the forest repeated the tradition. They learned that preparing for Daylight Saving Time wasn’t just about enjoying the sun—it was also about sharing special moments with those they loved most.
And so, year after year, the forest parties became legend, reminding everyone that the most important thing wasn’t the heat or the light, but the joy of being together.
