The Explorer Mole

The Explorer Mole 🌱

*Reading: 2 minutes

Once upon a time, there was a little mole named Leo. Leo loved digging tunnels in the damp, fresh soil of his garden. With his strong paws and sensitive nose, he could dig quickly and create paths everywhere. But there was one problem: Leo always got lost.

No matter how much he dug or how straight his tunnels were, he always ended up going in circles without finding the way out. Sometimes, when he wanted to go back home, hours would pass before he could see the sunlight again. Although exploring was fun, he was tired of not knowing how to return.

One day, while digging excitedly, he heard a soft little voice coming from above.
“Hello, mole! What are you doing down there?” someone asked.

Leo looked up and saw a tiny ant standing near the entrance of one of his tunnels.
“Hi… I’m trying to get somewhere, but I think I’m lost again,” Leo replied sadly.

The ant smiled and said:
“I’m Hema, and I know how to move around really well underground. If you want, I can help you stop getting lost.”

Leo nodded eagerly. Hema climbed down into the tunnel and began teaching him some tricks.
“Look, every time you dig, leave small marks to remember where you’ve been. You can use pebbles or make signs on the walls of the tunnel with your paw. That way, you’ll always know which way to go.”

Leo thought it was a great idea and decided to try it. That same afternoon, he started digging a new tunnel, leaving small shiny pebbles as guides. He also learned from Hema how to listen to the sounds of the earth: dripping water indicated one direction, and the chirping of crickets another. All of this helped him navigate better.

But just when he thought he had mastered the art of not getting lost, something unexpected happened. While continuing to dig, he arrived at a huge cave filled with giant roots and sparkling crystals. It was beautiful, but now he was completely lost.

He began to worry, but then he remembered Hema’s advice. He followed the shiny pebbles he had left behind and paid attention to the sounds. Soon, he found his way back. When he emerged outside, he felt the warm sunlight on his skin and sighed with relief.

From that day on, Leo never got lost again. He had learned that asking for help and using markers could solve any problem. Plus, he made a new friend in Hema, who always accompanied him on his underground adventures.

Over time, Leo became the official explorer of the garden. All the animals came to him when they needed to find something buried or open a new path. And although the tunnels sometimes got complicated, Leo was no longer afraid because he knew he could always find his way back.

End. 🌱
