In a bright blue sea, where the sunās rays danced on the waves, there lived a dolphin named Nilo. Nilo was a very curious dolphin who loved swimming among colorful corals, playing with his fish friends, and doing flips in the water. But there was something that made him different from the other dolphins: he was very afraid of jumping out of the water.
Every day, when his dolphin friends leaped high into the air performing acrobatics, Nilo would only watch them from below. “Why donāt you come with us?” they would ask. But he always replied, “I donāt want to leave the water. Itās so different out thereā¦ and I donāt know what might happen!”
One day, while exploring the ocean floor, Nilo met an old and wise turtle named Tula. She noticed that Nilo seemed worried and asked him what was wrong. The dolphin shared his secret. “Iām afraid of jumping out of the water,” said Nilo. “What if I fall? What if I canāt get back into the sea?”
Tula smiled tenderly and said, “Nilo, we all feel fear when we face something new. But sometimes, fear keeps us from discovering wonderful things. Did you know that when you jump, you can see the world from a different perspective? You can feel the wind, see beyond the horizon, and even greet the birds flying over the sea.”
Nilo thought about Tulaās words, but he still felt nervous. “How can I stop being afraid?” he asked. The turtle replied, “Start little by little. You donāt have to do it all at once. Just try when you feel ready.”
That night, as he floated under the moonlight, Nilo decided to give it a try. At first, he just poked his head above the water to look around. Everything was calm, and he could hear the soft sound of the waves lapping against the shore. He felt a little more confident.
The next day, he gathered the courage to make a small leap. It was barely a hop, but it was enough for his friends to cheer. “Great job, Nilo!” they shouted excitedly. Though he was still scared, Nilo felt something new: pride.
As the days passed, Nilo kept practicing. First, he made small jumps, then higher ones. One day, while playing near the surface, he heard a strange noise. It was a bird trapped in a net floating in the water. The bird was frightened and calling for help.
Nilo remembered Tulaās words: “Sometimes, facing our fears allows us to help others.” Without thinking twice, he took a deep breath and jumped higher than ever before. With his snout, he pushed the net back into the sea, freeing the bird. The bird flapped its wings, thanked him, and flew freely into the sky.
When Nilo fell back into the water, his friends surrounded him, full of joy. “You did it, Nilo! You jumped higher than ever!” they exclaimed. Nilo felt happy and proud. He had overcome his fear and, in the process, saved someone.
From that day on, Nilo no longer feared jumping. He learned that although some things may seem difficult or scary at first, itās always worth trying. Plus, he discovered that every jump allowed him to see the world from a new and exciting perspective.
Now, Nilo is known as the bravest dolphin in the sea. His friends say heās not only fast and agile but also very generous. And though he still enjoys swimming among the corals, he never misses an opportunity to leap high and greet the birds flying over the ocean.
Thus, Nilo learned that true courage isnāt about not being afraid, but about facing your fears and moving forward.
